Julie Slater North

Lecturer & PPSC-SSW Coordinator

Biography:

Having studied Sociology and Women’s Studies at UC Santa Barbara, I was focused on social inequalities and justice when I graduated in 2002. After working with foster youth in a group home setting in San Diego, I moved to San Francisco in 2004 to work in an agency serving 13-24 year olds experiencing homelessness. I went on to work with children with Autism, and adult survivors of sex work and addiction, before moving to Arcata in 2008 to attend Cal Poly Humboldt. I received my MSW in 2010, and have been practicing high school social work in Fortuna ever since. I am excited to begin teaching at Humboldt in fall of 2016.
