Pam Bowers

Biography: 

Dr. Bowers began her social work career in 1999 educating public school systems about youth safety, combating heterosexism and homophobia. She later worked as a public health advocate, tobacco cessation specialist, and a school social worker. Her doctoral dissertation focused on cultural adaptations for health justice with LGBTQ+ populations. Her current research explores social work professional identity development, using community based participatory research (CBPR) for social justice and community action, and incorporating technology innovations into the social work curriculum. Prior to teaching at Cal Poly Humboldt, she taught at the University of Alaska Anchorage and the University of Texas at Arlington.
