I am drawn to the way that the program incorporates both theory and practice. The location is stunning and I love the culture at HSU and surrounding areas. To me this is the perfect location to focus on what matters most to me: Learning about myself via learning about society.
Food justice/sovereignty/security, alternative food movements (and the intersection of race and class), sustainable agriculture, political sociology, environmental sociology.
Possibly go on to PhD work. Ultimately I would like to work in the non-profit sector, specifically doing research for organizations interested in food policy and alternative food movements. Once I have settled into my “career” I want to return my focus to herbalism and holistic nutrition.
