Mission and Goals


The Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs will be a leading contributor towards advancing the HSU mission by providing opportunities that enhance the overall experience of the student and the campus community.


Operating under a student centered philosophy, the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs supports students in the achievement of their academic, personal, and professional goals. Our programs and services promote individuality, responsible citizenship, sustainability, and inclusiveness. To achieve this mission, we strategically focus on enrollment management, engagement, diversity, student development, health and wellness, and operational efficiency.

Engage - Focus the work in every department on student success and retention, in support of the institutional goals spelled out in the Enrollment Management Plan.
14-15 Outcomes
New students (freshman and transfer) will transition to HSU effectively and successfully.
As a result of the efforts of our staff, students will connect to and utilize the academic, social, cultural, professional, and financial resources within our division.
As a result of our communication efforts and through the use of technology, students and parents will access services, meet business deadlines, understand university requirements and recognize the lifecycle of a successful student.
Staff will provide helpful and positive customer service to the campus community.
Empower - Create new and/or enhance existing support services to meet the individual needs of HSU students.
14-15 Outcomes
The Centers for Cross Cultural Academic Excellence will be launched by Spring 2015.
Through our programs, services, and modeling by staff, students will be knowledgeable about and advocates for socio-cultural competence.
As a result of our early alert strategies, conduct and care efforts, and  health and wellness trainings, staff provide quality intervention and prevention for students in need.
Enrich - Improve or enhance the quality of the student experience.
14-15 Outcomes
The proposed Advising model will be implemented as scheduled. 
The activities and programming schedule and our facilities will augment the success of every student through appropriate scheduling, skill development, leadership training, and inclusiveness.
Collaborations with academic affairs and others across campus will improve the learning environment for students.
The division will identify new ways enhance revenue.
