Classes will be held on Saturdays, at Humboldt State University Art Building, room 23.
Students will examine how masks serve different roles in cultures. Students will complete papier maché masks, with a focus on concept building, design, and planning. The workshop will also offer a survey of folk art.
Students will first illustrate scenes from classic literature in a comic book form, and later complete a six-page comic book illustrating a story or poem that they have chosen or written. Students will gain skills in illustration, basic book making, as well as planning and concept building. They will use materials such as pen and ink, watercolor, and gouache.
