Emeritus Professor of Zoology Warren Jacob "Jake" Houck passed away on 24 July, 2010. Jake was largely responsible for building the outstanding marine mammal collection housed at the Vertebrate Museum.
Mammal Collection renamed the T.E. Lawlor Mammal Collection, in honor of longtime Curator Tim Lawlor
Long time Curator of Mammmals, Tim Lawlor, passed away on 14 April, 2010. Among his many achievements, Tim received the 2001 American Society of Mammalogists Joseph Grinnell Award for Excellence in Education in Mammalogy. He remained active in his research on the biogeography of Great Basin mammals up to the end. A reception to officially name the Mammal Collection after Tim was held at 2:30pm on February 11, 2011 in the Lobby of Science B.
