You've probably noticed a number of @axe.humboldt.edu and @redwood.humboldt.edu email addresses cluttering up the address lists in Google and Outlook when you select recipients for your emails. This is the result of a change in GMail that has caused confusion within our GMail system and actually broken the way email addressing works in Outlook.

Have you tried the new Gmail Compose box?

You may have noticed Gmail starting to offer you a new Compose option when you go to write an email. If you haven't tried it yet (it's optional until January 2013), it would be a good idea to give it a test run so you can familiarize yourself  with the differences. Undelivered mail now sends notices

Up until now, if you sent an an email to an invalid @humboldt.edu address, you would never know if it hadn't been delivered, because GMail had no way to tell you.

Now, we've come up with a way that lets you know something went wrong with the delivery. You'll receive an email from "catchall@humboldt.edu" with the following message:

Google Apps :: Mac Mail Setup

Mac Mail may be used as a standalone email client for GMail. If you've never launched and configured Mac Mail, follow the steps below to do that. You'll also need to enable and configure the Advanced IMAP Controls Lab in GMail, or you'll get multiple copies of mail in your All Mail folder.
