Who is affected:
People logging in to office computers, people logging in to lab computers, people accessing files on file servers, people printing to printers on print servers
If there are files that you must be able to access on 11/26, you may want to save them to your computer ahead of time.
If you are unable to access a resource or login, wait a few minutes and try again.
ITS will be upgrading the two servers that allow you to login to computer systems on campus (Active Directory). We expect logins to work throughout the entire day; however, there may be short outages that prevent you from logging in or connecting to a networked-based resource (file server or print server).
Affected in what way:
You may have intermittent problems accessing files not saved on your computer (on a file share or server* or Sharepoint) or printing to printers (on a print server**) on Friday, November 26th. You should have no problem logging into office computers that you use regularly; however, you could see a short delay.
People logging into labs will be unable to login if both servers are unavailable.
*File servers usually show up in My Computer with a drive letter that is later in the alphabet (U:, S:, etc.) or have a \ in the name. They may also say "Network drive" in their description when you click on them.
**Printers on print servers usually have the word "on" in the name, for example "dell5100 on hsu-print" or you may see a \ in the name.
