All campus community on campus Tuesday November 26th
Staff/Faculty on campus can utilize a wired network jack in their offices and/or classrooms. For a list of active wired network jacks in common areas, see http://www.humboldt.edu/tns/active_classrooms.php - Note: Devices must be pre-registered by your IT Support to gain access.
Residents living in Residence Halls may be able to utilize their wired network jacks.
For Users: In order to keep the network working well, we have to add more capacity. If you will be here November 26th, you'll have to use a wired connection in your office.
For IT Support: Additional IP sub-nets will be added to the existing Vlan pool to bring total support to just over 16K devices. This will change the main hashing algorithm used for load balancing among sub-nets, which necessitates forcing all devices to re-authenticate post outage.
Affected in what way:
Devices searching for official campus wireless networks will not find any. This wireless outage includes HSUWireless, HSUWireless-Secure, ResnetWireless, HSU-SERC, HSUMarineLab, SHCTablet, HSUVisitor, among other compliance networks. Once the outage is over, all devices will have to re-register on the campus wireless system. *** Update 26NOV13 @ 11:48 *** Service has been restored
