College Scheduler is a web based class scheduling system for student use at colleges and universities. Students can build optimized class schedules that take into account their personal needs (work, athletics, leisure, etc.). Students will be able to access the scheduler directly through an icon integrated into existing PeopleSoft registration and scheduling environments. This project is part of the Chancellor's Office e-Advising initiative.
4/17/2014: College Scheduler went live across campus on 3/28/14. Approximately 765 unique users logged into the tool during the first week, and the help desk reported no known issues. Feedback received by the Registrar's office has been positive. The final project documents have been posted to SharePoint and the after-action review meeting to discuss successes and lessons learned has been scheduled. This project is now closed.
3/25/2014: Everything is ready for College Scheduler to go live on 3/28. The communications plan is being executed and demonstrations to various groups have been taking place this month. The ITS service page was posted 3/12 and University Notices have ben published to staff, students, and faculty. On go-live day, a notice will be posted to myHumboldt and a user guide will be posted to Student Center Help. Student Affairs will announce the availability of the tool in their registration email notice to students on 3/27 and Academic Advisor counselors will include information in the upcoming Advisor Bulletin and Ready Set Register documents.
2/24/2014: All testing of the College Scheduler tool, including User Acceptance, has been successfully concluded. Communication planning is under way and demonstrations of the tool to various groups are taking place across campus. The CMS COMR migration request paperwork will be submitted by 2/26/14.
1/24/2014: Testing of the College Scheduler tool with PeopleTools 8.53 and maintenance pack 11 is in progress. The CMS COMR exception request has been approved and the modification governance documents covering integration with PeopleSoft are under development. Communication planning meetings are being scheduled for February based on testing progress.
11/22/2013: We expect contracts to be completed by the end of November. Testing is planned for December and meetings are being scheduled to plan communications, discuss possible updates to myHumboldt as the relate to this new student service, and discuss securing the appropriate CMS modification governance documents for the integration with PeopleSoft.
10/22/13: This project has been approved by the President and VPs as an ITS priority for 2013-14. Contracts are currently being negotiated by the Chancellor's Office and, once these have been finalized, the project team and timeline will be assembled. Initial investigation into the technical requirements is underway by the Application Design & Development team.
