Before You Start

To connect your Android device to the HSUWireless-Secure network, you'll first need to ensure you're using Android 2.1 or later, so please update your device to the most current version of Android now.

Connecting to the Network

The instructions below use the Motorola Droid X2 for illustrative purposes; your device's screen may look slightly different.

Step 1: Press the Menu key on your phone, and then tap Settings.

Step 4: Tap Add Wi-Fi network

Tap Add Wi-Fi network

Step 5: Configure your device to connect to the HSUWireless-Secure network as follows:

  • Enter the Network SSID HSUWireless-Secure exactly as shown. 

Note that your device may request a "credential storage" password. If you haven't already set up this Android password, you can do so now by just clicking OK when you see the request.

  • From the Security menu, select 802.1x EAP
  • Ensure the EAP Method is set to PEAP
  • For Phase2 authentication, select MSCHAPV2

Don't tap Save yet - there are another couple of steps you need to take first.

Type in exactly Upper & Lower case HSUWireless-Secure - Security choose 802.1xEAP, EAP methos is set to PEAP, Phase2 Authorization is MSCHAPV2

  • Scroll down and enter your HSU User Name and Password as indicated below (the Identity field is for your HSU User Name)
  • Now you can tap Save

MSCHAPV2, Type in HSU User Name and Password, then Tap Save

Step 6: If prompted to do so, accept the certificate for

Step 7: Open a browser on your device, and you should be connected to the HSUWireless-Secure network automatically. If you have not gone through this set-up process before or have not used this device on campus for more than 30 days, you may be prompted to accept the CSU Responsible Use Policy.

Step 8: You can choose to have your device "forget" the regular HSUWireless network and connect only using the HSUWireless-Secure network. Here's how:

  • Press the Menu button on your device
  • Navigate to Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Wi-Fi settings -> Manage Networks

Locate in list HSUWireless and do a Longpress (Tap & Hold) on this connection

Step 9: Locate HSUWireless on the list.

  • Do a LongPress (tap and hold)
  • Select Forget network

HSUWireless may continue to be displayed as an option, but your device will not try to automatically connect to it.

Tap Forget network
