Blackboard Collaborate Web Conferencing


HSU uses Blackboard Collaborate (formerly known as Elluminate) to provide a virtual classroom or meeting environment for students, staff, and faculty. 

Faculty can:

  • Create and run virtual classes while maintaining quality and accessibility
  • Offer extended office hours
  • Hold tutoring and mentoring sessions at any time
  • Leverage limited teaching resources

Faculty and staff can:

  •  Involve outside experts at minimal cost
  • Conduct inter-campus projects and meetings without traveling
  • Maintain schedules in the event of natural disasters

Students can:

  • Replay class sessions at any time to review materials

Accessing This Service

In order to host a Blackboard Collaborate web meeting, you'll first need to request a Blackboard account; follow the instructions on the Web Conferencing: Getting Started page to begin this process. Once you have your account information, you can log into the service on the web at Your login credentials are:

Username = <your HSU User Name>
Password = <your Blackboard Collaborate password>

You can also access Blackboard Collaborate through Moodle.

When you first log in, you should change your password. You can do this by clicking on the Profile tab and selecting Change Password.
