Who is affected:
Any devices connected to wired or wireless networks in Social Sciences 3rd & 4th floors, and Science A 5th floor.
All CSU campuses were notified recently of a stability flaw that affected wired network switches at CSU Chico. After O.S. Upgrades on 1/7/11 at 03:00AM, select switches did not return to optimal status. This was caused because one of the switches in these two stacks required a boot loader upgrade whereas the others in the stack did not. This resulted in the preferred master switch reloading twice - once to initiate the image upgrade and the other to initiate the boot loader image upgrade. This caused a backup stack member switch to boot as the master, resulting in sub-optimal L2 forwarding. An additional reload is required.
Affected in what way:
Wired network connections will experience a loss of connectivity for up to 10 minutes. Wireless SSIDs such as HSUWireless, may no longer be visible to wireless devices, temporarily.
