Please join us in welcoming Deborah (Deb) Rice to the Philanthropy team of University Advancement.

Deborah will be filling the Philanthropy Advisor vacancy left by Charles Mayfield in early 2017, and will be working directly with CAHSS and the Library to facilitate donor relationship-building in support of identified Philanthropic priorities.

Deb is thrilled to be returning to the North Coast after being away for fourteen years. She has more than 19 years of experience working with community foundations, universities and nonprofit organizations.  Prior to joining HSU, Deb served the statewide community foundation, Hawai’i Community Foundation (HCF), as the Senior Philanthropic Services officer for Maui County.  Prior to her Maui term, Deb led the Kaua’i office for HCF. She has also worked for the Humboldt Area Foundation, the University of California, Davis and as the Director of Planned Giving at the CSU, Sacramento. At Humboldt Area Foundation, she helped launch the North Coast Leave a Legacy program.

Born and raised near Chehalis, a small farming community in southwest Washington State, Deb earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from the Evergreen State College in Olympia.  In her spare time, she enjoys dog agility with her Australian Shepherds.
