Cessair McKinney Collects CCAA Championship Scholar Award

ARCATA, Calif. – Humboldt State sophomore Cessair McKinney was named the Women’s Cross Country Championship Scholar at Saturday’s California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships held on the campus of Cal State San Bernardino.

“This is a great validation of all Cessair's hard work and an important step in furthering the culture of academic success in our program and our department,” said Head Coach Jamey Harris.”

The CCAA Championship Scholar Award recognizes the academic and athletic achievement of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached competition at the Conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Championship Scholar Award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating in each CCAA-Sponsored Championship.

The Lumberjack women finished eighth out of 12 teams at Saturday’s meet, and McKinney finished 35th overall just missing the cut for All-Conference honors.
