Twenty-Six Jacks Named to CCAA Fall All-Academic Team

January 4, 2018

SAN RAMON, Calif. – Twenty-six Humboldt State student-athletes were named to the California Collegiate Athletic Association Fall All-Academic team.

The seasonal award is presented to student-athletes who are at least a sophomore in athletic eligibility and who maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average while competing in a conference-sponsored sport.

“We are excited to recognize these scholar athletes,” said HSU interim Athletic Director Duncan Robins. “They are building on Humboldt’s long tradition of developing leaders on the field, in the classroom and in life.”

HSU’s total is the fourth-highest in the conference, and three Jacks had an unblemished 4.0 GPA in their respective studies. Sierra Jarriel (women’s soccer), Sabine Postma (women’s soccer) and Mia Owens (cross country) were three of the CCAA’s seven 4.0 representatives.

Overall, a total of 314 student-athletes from the conference’s 13 member institutions were honored as members of the Fall All-Academic team.

"As proud as we are of the accomplishments that CCAA student-athletes achieve in their chosen sport, the real measure of success comes from how they perform in the classroom," said the CCAA’s Interim Commissioner Mitch Cox. "These student-athletes have shown once again that the CCAA and Division II excel in providing a balance between athletic achievement and academic success."

The CCAA Fall All-Academic Team consists of eligible student-athletes who compete in the sports of men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer and volleyball.
