Upcoming PeopleSoft Upgrade: What You Need to Do to Prepare

February 6, 2018

All CSUs will be transitioning to a Common Human Resources System (CHRS) in three years’ time. ITS is laying the foundations for this by splitting our current PeopleSoft HCM system into two separate systems – one for Human Resources (HR) and one for Campus Solutions (CS), also called the "Student" side – so in future you’ll access the two systems through two separate entry buttons in myHumboldt. Campus Solutions is also being upgraded to v9.2 as part of the same project. We recently completed the first testing phase for this project, and have moved to the second phase. The plan is to “go live” with this new split system the week of March 22, which will mean that PeopleSoft will be unavailable between March 22 at 5p.m. and March 26 at 8 a.m.

How can you best prepare for this change?

The more we test, the smoother things will go when the new system goes live, so ITS is scheduling dedicated time in the Gist Hall computer lab during February and early March for all affected departments to test their processes. If you’re a PeopleSoft HCM user, talk with your manager and co-workers, then contact the ITS Project Office Coordinator at x5238 to schedule some time to test your processes in the new systems.

You can also help the process go more smoothly by spending some time over the next few weeks cleaning up existing PeopleSoft data like unused queries and reports. It will also be helpful if you could review and document current business processes so you can more easily compare them with future processes to identify changes. As CHRS moves forward, we’ll be creating more training opportunities and informational guides will be made available.
