Butcher, Sharon

 
Sharon has a BS in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland at College Park and an MFA in Performance and Choreography from the University of Colorado in Boulder.  She trained intensively with Erick Hawkins in New York City, and she danced professionally with Kei Takei’s Moving Earth, also based in New York. Sharon enjoys creating cross-disciplinary works and her choreography has been performed in various places in the United States, England, Scotland and Spain.  She has been an artist-in-residence and/or guest teacher for the Estada International de Dansa, Banyoles, Spain; the American College Dance Association Regional and National Conferences; and at multiple university programs across the country.  Sharon has served on the dance faculty for the Shenandoah Arts Conservatory in Virginia, University of Florida in Gainesville, and the University of Maryland in College Park.
 
When not in a dance studio, office, or theatre, Sharon can usually be found outside: in the garden, on a kayak, camping by the river, enjoying an outdoor music festival, or walking on the beach.
