Dear Students and Colleagues,

As we all come to terms with the recent events on campus, it is important to recognize the emotional impact they have taken on us, individually and collectively. We want to acknowledge that this has been an extremely challenging week for Cal Poly Humboldt. We are hurting within our campus community and beyond, and we have much work in front of us to reset, rebuild, and heal. This will take time. We will do this together.

Brown Bag Lunch Online Presentation with Peter Lehman, Founding Director, Schatz Energy Research Center : This presentation will provide an overview of hydrogen's role in providing for zero-emission transportation, with special emphasis on Humboldt Transit Authority's current project to transition to fuel cell electric buses. The following topics will be covered:

  • The 35 year history of the Schatz Energy Research Center's work with hydrogen technology and its use in zero-emission vehicles
  • The rationale for using hydrogen as a fuel for vehicles and the use of "green" hydrogen for a virtually carbon free transportation system
  • Humboldt Transit Authority's current project for building a zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell bus fleet, a hydrogen fueling station to fuel the buses, and a new transit center in downtown Eureka
  • Hydrogen transportation developments nationally and worldwide.
